2010 Vegetable Garden Harvet totals

Chad and I really wanted to have a vegetable garden at our house even though we're in a townhouse and don't really have much of a yard.  We enclosed a flower bed and Chad build two more raised beds for the vegetable gardens - so one 8'x1 1/2' bed and two 4'x4' beds.  We planted heirloom seeds on 5/18/10.  Here are our garden totals:

3 zucchini plants = 20 zucchini and 1 3/4 gallon bags of frozen slices
and 2 sandwich bags shredded zucchini

3 squash plants = 19 squash and 1 1/4 gallon bags of frozen slices

4 cucumber plants = 65 cucumber

10 okra plants = 384 okra and 22 1/3 sandwich bags of breaded frozen okra

1 lima bean bush = 43 lima bean pods (only got about half of a sandwich bag of shelled beans)

4 tomato plants = 8 tiny tomatoes

1 basil plant

I was extremely happy with our garden this year!  Chad and I really decided that we were going to make the best of what we had to work with in our little yard.  And now we know how to do things better for next year too.  We probably would have gotten more squash and zucchini if we hadn't had a squash bug invasion - I will definitely be working on how to prevent them for next year.  Also, something was wrong with our tomato plants - they grew fine, but the actual tomatoes only got a little bigger than cherry tomotoes and then they would start splitting.  But, overall I'm very happy with how things went and especially our okra harvest - that was what we wanted the most of!  Here are two pictures of our frozen harvest waiting for us to enjoy this winter:

Our frozen squash and zucchini slices - and shredded zucchini.

All our breaded and bagged frozen okra!
